Venturers...the great Adventure! |
ARE YOU READY FOR AN ADVENTURE ?
Venturers (aged 14 to 17) - make their own decisions and are given the opportunity to develop their organizing and managing skills. A Venturer Unit has its own charter and approves proposed award scheme work through a committee of Venturers called a Unit Council.
Whilst Venturers choose their examiners, who are qualified to assess the work a Venturer does towards a badge, proposals for badge work and then the final approval of the work done for the award is made by Venturer peers. The Venturer leader provides encouragement, help and support as necessary. The highly recognised Queen’s Scout Award is the highest Award a Venturer can achieve in this section.
Some Venturer activities include camping, abseiling, exploring, and more. They try tackling new terrains, and attempt new adventurous activities, including: Scuba Diving, Skiing, Hang Gliding, Abseiling, Rock Climbing, Caving, Water Activities and more.
As 1st Beaufort Scout Group has re-opened this section, we are seeking interested adults to assist our youth with their award scheme. Currently, 1st Beaufort Venturers are part of a combined Unit with 1st Wendouree Venturers and the Unit is called BAWD Venturers. Meetings are generally held at 1st Wendouree Scout Hall, but may move around according to the Venturer Program of activities. Meetings rotate back to Beaufort as programmed.
If you are interested in becoming a Venturer in Victoria or if you are interested in helping youth in this section, please contact:
